Above is a color plot of sensitivity of radiance to water amounts in the
atmosphere. The scale, shown as the vertical bar on the right, is in units
of Kelvin. The Jacobians have been convolved over the AIRS instrument response
function. From the plot, one sees that between 1450-1550 cm, the AIRS channels
are most sensitive to water in the 400-500 mb pressure level (about 6-8 km
above the Earth's surface).
