UMBC TEXAQS/GoMACCS Page: AIRS CO 20060909

Julian Day 252

NOTE: This quicklook field data (little quality control) is intended solely for internal (TEXAQS/GoMACCS flight-planning and evaluation) use of authorized TEXAQS/GoMACCS participants. Great care should be exercised when comparin g these retrievals to other measurements. We strongly recommend these comparisons only be made with our collaboration. Please respect data protocols and give proper citation credit when using this data, we will do the same with yours. External, pub lic dissemnation of this data is permitted only with the express written consent of the PI, Dr. W. Wallace McMillan (mcmillan@umbc.edu, 4 43-695-3214).

Our thanks to the numerous colleagues and collaborators who have made possible the products appearing on this webpage. First, Dr. Mous Chahine, father of AIRS. Next, the entire AIRS team from JPL, LMIRIS/BAE, GSFC, etc. who built and maintain such a fine instrument. None of the retrievals would be possible without the work of the AIRS Science Team, and for CO specifically: Dr. Larrabee Strow (UMBC) who first hired me in 1994 to work on AIRS CO retrievals and Dr. Chris Barnet (NOAA/NESDIS) who developed, tested and maintains the version of the AIRS retrieval code we use. None of this would be possible without the gracious assistance of Walt Wolf (NOAA/NESDIS) for providing timely access to AIRS Level 1B data (calibrated AIRS and AMSU radiances). 72-hour CO forecast trajectories appear courtesy of Dr. Brad Pierce (NASA/LaRC). To paraphrase Casey Stengal, "I couldn't have done it without my folks" -- my thanks to my research group at UMBC: Dr. Juying Warner, Michele McCourt, Kurt Lightner, and formerly Dr. Swati Datta and Eric Maddy.
