Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS)The present research in the Atmospheric Spectroscopy Laboratory centers around the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS). AIRS is a large grating spectrometer that will fly on NASA's EOS-PM satellite, now called Aqua. AIRS will retrieve global profiles of atmospheric temperature and humidity in order to understand global climate change. AIRS is scheduled for launch in December 2000. AIRS before shipment to TRW for integration to the spacecraft. |
